- “Mr. Speaker and members of the House: I voted no on House Bill 5427 because the issue of remote meetings should not be solved one body at a time in a piecemeal way. Instead of continuing to create carve-outs for specific public bodies, we need to amend the Open Meetings Act to allow all public bodies the option for remote meetings. If electronic meetings are an improvement in the openness of government, then they should be allowed for everyone.” House Bill No. 6020, entitled A bill to establish a student mental health apprenticeship retention and training (SMART) internship grant program; to prescribe conditions for the administration of the student mental health apprenticeship retention and training (SMART) internship grant program; to prescribe certain powers and duties of certain state officers, agencies, and departments; and to require the promulgation of rules.
