Representative Schroeder moved to adopt the meeting minutes from February 14, 2019. There being no objection, the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. The Chair laid HB 4077 before the committee: HB 4077 (Rep. Neeley) A bill to amend 2005 PA 210, entitled"Commercial rehabilitation act,"by amending sections 6 and 8 (MCL 207.846 and 207.848), section 8 as amended by 2011 PA 82. Representative Sheldon A. Neeley, the bill sponsor, explained the bill, and introduced Phil Hagerman, Ferris Wheel Building Owner, and Heather Kale, General Manager for Ferris Wheel. Mr. Hagerman testified in support of the bill. Questions followed. Tim Greimel, Legislative director for the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees-Council, 25 testified in support of the bill. The Chair laid HB 4048 and HB 4049 before the committee: HB 4048 (Rep. Inman) A bill to amend 1982 PA 162, entitled"Nonprofit corporation act,"by amending section 123 (MCL 450.2123), as amended by 2014 PA 557. HB 4049 (Rep. Inman) A bill to amend 1897 PA 230, entitled"An act to provide for the formation of corporations for the purpose of owning, maintaining and improving lands and other property kept for the purposes of summer resorts or for ornament, recreation or amusement, and to repeal all laws or parts of laws in conflict herewith; and to impose certain duties on the department of commerce,"(MCL 455.1 to 455.24) by adding section 19. Trey Hines, Legislative Director for Representative Inman, the bill sponsor, explained the bill, and introduced Anne Treadway, Vice-President of the Neahtawanta Summer Resort Association, and Fredrick M. Baker, Jr., Legal Counsel for the association, who testified in support of the bills. Copy of Mr. Baker's testimony is attached. Tabitha Zimmy of Karoub Associates, representing the Community Association Institute, submitted a testimony card in support of the bill package, but did not wish to testify. There being no further business before the committee, Representative Meerman moved to adjourn the committee meeting.
