- Representative LaGrand moved to adopt the meeting minutes from March 12, 2019. There being no objection, the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. The Chair laid SB 0023 and SB 0024 before the committee: SB 0023 (Sen. Runestad) A bill to prohibit the theft of mail; to provide for the powers and duties of certain state and local governmental officers and entities; and to prescribe penalties and provide remedies. SB 0024 (Sen. Lucido) A bill to amend 1927 PA 175, entitled “The code of criminal procedure,” by amending section 14 of chapter XVII (MCL 777.14h), as amended by 2018 PA 188. Senator Runestad and Dennis Doherty, representing the Wayne County Prosecutor’s office, testified together in support of the bills. Questions and discussion followed.
