Representative Webber moved to adopt the meeting minutes from December 3, 2019. There being no objection, the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. The Chair laid SB 172 before the committee: SB 172 (Sen. Stamas) A bill to amend 1956 PA 218, entitled "The insurance code of 1956," by amending section 513 (MCL 500.513), as added by 2001 PA 24. Brian Shoaf, representing Senator Stamas' office, joined by Andrew Doerr, representing the American Property Casualty Insurance Association, both testified in support of SB 172. Questions and discussion followed. The following people submitted a card in support of SB 172, but did not wish to speak: Dyck Van Koevering, representing the Insurance Alliance of Michigan. Matt Sowash, representing State Farm. Ken Ross, representing John Hancock Life Insurance. Marcia Hune, representing the Life Insurance Association of Michigan. The Chair laid HB 4508 before the committee: HB 4508 (Rep. Webber) A bill to amend 1956 PA 218, entitled "The insurance code of 1956," by amending section 1202 (MCL 500.1202), as amended by 2016 PA 114, and by adding chapter 12b. Representative Webber testified to his proposed (H-1) substitute to HB 4508.
