- Representative Liberati moved to adopt the meeting minutes from May 27, 2020 and June 17, 2020. There being no objection, the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. The Chair laid before the committee a presentation on Long-Term Care in Michigan. Marlon Brown, Director of Policy and Legislative Affairs in the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs, LARA, introduced Ms. Kim Gaedeke, Chief Deputy Director for LARA, and Ms. Michelle Roepke, Director of the Federal Survey and Certification Division in the Bureau of Community and Health Systems in LARA., who proceeded with a PowerPoint presentation on Nursing Home Infection Control. Questions and discussion followed. A copy of the PowerPoint is attached. Kate Massey, Senior Deputy Director for the Medical Services Administration in the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services and Michigan's Medicaid Director, testified on the department's policies regarding COVID-19 long-term care. Questions from committee followed. Alison Hirschel, Senior Legal Counsel to the Michigan Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program and Director of the Michigan Elder Justice Initiative testified on their role they play in regarding long-term care in Michigan.
