- Representative VanWoerkom moved to adopt the meeting minutes from March 4, 2021. There being no objection, the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. The Chair laid HB 4064 before the committee: HB 4064 (Rep. Glenn) A bill to create the office of the state employee ombudsman; to provide a process for investigating and evaluating reports of suspected violations of law, conduct or decisions that may endanger public health or safety, and gross mismanagement of public funds; to prescribe the powers and duties of the office, the ombudsman, the legislative council, and certain other state agencies and officials; and to prescribe penalties and provide remedies. Representative Glenn testified in support of her bill. The Chair laid HB 4268 before the committee: HB 4268 (Rep. Meerman) A bill to amend 1978 PA 368, entitled "Public health code," by amending sections 2253 and 2453 (MCL 333.2253 and 333.2453), section 2253 as amended by 2006 PA 157, and by adding sections 2254 and 2454. Representative Meerman testified in support of his bill. Questions and discussion followed. At 9:37 AM, the Chair laid the committee at ease. At 9:38 AM, the Chair called the committee back to order. Charles Owen, representing the National Federation of Independent Businesses, testified in support of HB 4268. Questions and discussion followed.
