Representative Hauck moved to adopt the meeting minutes from February 9, 2022. There being no objection, the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. The Chair laid HB 5038 before the committee: HB 5038 (Rep. Coleman) A bill to create the office of broadband and digital infrastructure; to prescribe the powers and duties of the office of broadband and digital infrastructure; to allow the provision of grants and other financial and technical assistance related to broadband and digital infrastructure; and to provide the powers and duties of certain state officers and entities. Representative Coleman testified in support of HB 5038. Todd Cook and Eric Frederick, representing the Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity, testified in support of HB 5038. Questions and discussion followed. Mike Spence, representing the Southwest Michigan Council of Governments, testified in support of HB 5038. Siely Joshi, representing Crown Castle, testified in support of HB 5038. There being no further business before the committee, Chair Hoitenga adjourned the meeting at 11:21 AM.
