- Representative Wegela moved to adopt the meeting minutes from March 7, 2023. There being no objections, the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. The Chair laid HB 4199 before the committee: HB 4199 (Rep. Conlin) A bill to amend 2014 PA 259, entitled "Michigan national guard tuition assistance act," by amending the title and sections 3 and 4 (MCL 32.433 and 32.434), section 3 as amended by 2016 PA 531. At 12:01 p.m., the Chair laid the committee at ease. At 12:01 p.m., the Majority Vice-Chair Coleman called the committee back to order. The Chair, the bill sponsor, explained the HB 4199. Questions followed. At 12:08 p.m., the Majority Vice- Chair Coleman laid the committee at ease. At 12:08 p.m., the Chair called the committee back to order. Major General Paul D. Rogers, the Adjutant General of the Michigan National Guard, representing the Michigan Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMVA), testified in support of HB 4199. Questions followed. The following people submitted a card in support of HB 4199, but did not wish to speak: Tim Poxson, representing the American Legion-Department of Michigan; Adam Majestic, representing the Detroit Regional Chamber; and Heather Feuerstein, State Legislative Liaison for the DMVA.
