- Representative Arbit moved to excuse Representative Edwards from the meeting. There being no objection the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. The Chair laid HB 4738 and HB 4739 before the committee: HB 4738 (Rep. Breen) A bill to amend 1927 PA 175, entitled "The code of criminal procedure," (MCL 760.1 to 777.69) by adding section 40b to chapter VII. HB 4739 (Rep. Mentzer) A bill to amend 1985 PA 87, entitled "William Van Regenmorter crime victim's rights act," (MCL 780.751 to 780.834) by adding section 8a. At 10:39 AM, the Chair laid the committee at ease. At 10:40 AM, Representative Tyrone Carter called the committee back to order. Chair Breen, Representative Mentzer, Attorney General Dana Nessel, Mitch Albers and Aaron Van Langevelde, both representing the Michigan Department of Attorney General, testified in support of HB 4738 and HB 4739.
