Representative Fitzgerald moved to adopt the meeting minutes from June 8, 2023. There being no objection, the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. The Chair laid HB 4081 before the committee: HB 4081 (Rep. Brabec) A bill to amend 1976 PA 451, entitled "The revised school code," (MCL 380.1 to 380.1852) by adding section 1173. The following person submitted a card in opposition to HB 4081, but did not wish to speak: Jennifer Smith, representing the Michigan Association of School Boards. Chair Rogers asked the Clerk to read in a letter asking the Subcommittee on Behavioral Health to review and make recommendations on HB 4081. The Chair laid HB 4608 before the committee: HB 4608 (Rep. Pohutsky) A bill to amend 1978 PA 368, entitled "Public health code," by amending sections 16141 and 16145 (MCL 333.16141 and 333.16145), as amended by 1993 PA 80, and by adding section 16346 and part 183A. Sara Henning, from Representative Pohutsky's office, testified in support of HB 4608. Questions and discussion followed. Emily Miller, representing herself and the American Nutritionists Association, testified in opposition to HB 4608. Questions and discussion followed. Mark Thiesmeyer-Hook; Beth Thayer; and Charla Burill, all representing the Michigan Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, testified in support of HB 4608. Questions and discussion followed.
