Representative Churches moved to adopt the meeting minutes from June 13, 2023. There being no objection, the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. The Chair laid HB 4820 before the committee: HB 4820 (Rep. Skaggs) A bill to amend 1976 PA 451, entitled "The revised school code," by amending section 1248 (MCL 380.1248), as added by 2011 PA 102. At 9:04 AM, the Chair laid the committee at ease. At 9:06 AM, the Chair called the committee back to order. Representative Skaggs testified in support of HB 4820. Questions and discussion followed. Tammy Daenzer, from the Michigan Education Association, testified in support of HB 4820. Jennifer Smith, from the Michigan Association of School Boards, testified in opposition of HB 4820. The Chair laid SB 359 before the committee: SB 359 (Sen. Chang) A bill to amend 1976 PA 451, entitled "The revised school code," by amending section 1250 (MCL 380.1250), as amended by 2018 PA 601. Senator Chang testified in support of SB 359. Questions and discussion followed.
