Representative Mentzer moved to report out HB 4688 with recommendation, as substitute (H-2). The motion prevailed 7-1-2: FAVORABLE ROLL CALL Yeas: Reps. Haadsma, Mentzer, Koleszar, O'Neal, Andrews, Churches, Wegela. Nays: Rep. Kunse. Pass: Reps. Wozniak, Mueller. The Chair laid HB 5164 and HB 5165 before the committee: HB 5164 (Rep. O'Neal) A bill to create the call center jobs retention act; to provide for the powers and duties of certain state governmental officers and entities; to impose certain duties on certain employers; and to prescribe civil sanctions. HB 5165 (Rep. O'Neal) A bill to amend 1984 PA 270, entitled "Michigan strategic fund act," (MCL 125.2001 to 125.2094) by adding section 15. Representative O'Neal, Charles Daniels, representing the Communication Workers of America, and Angie Miller, representing the Michigan Area Labor Council, testified in support of HB 5164 and HB 5165. Questions and discussion followed. The following people submitted a card in support of HB 5164 and HB 5165, but did not wish to speak: Andrew Kozicki, and Tina Culver, representing the Communications Workers of America Union. The following person submitted a card in opposition to HB 5164 and HB 5165, but did not wish to speak: Wendy Block, representing the Michigan Chamber of Commerce.
