Representative Whitsett moved to adopt the meeting minutes from April 17, 2024. There being no objection, the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. The Chair laid HB 5682 before the committee: HB 5682 (Rep. Hill) A bill to amend 1967 PA 281, entitled "Income tax act of 1967," by amending sections 30, 623, and 815 (MCL 206.30, 206.623, and 206.815), section 30 as amended by 2023 PA 4 and section 623 as amended and section 815 as added by 2021 PA 135. Representative Hill; Joelle Demand, representing the Broadband Association of Michigan; and Jen Greenburg, representing the Peninsula Fiber Network, all testified in support of HB 5682. The following people submitted a card in support of HB 5682, but did not wish to speak: Gavin Goetz, representing AT&T. Mike Spence, representing the Southeast Michigan Council of Governments. The Chair laid HB 5568 before the committee: HB 5568 (Rep. Scott) A bill to create the Michigan high-speed internet office; to prescribe the powers and duties of the Michigan high-speed internet office; to allow the provision of grants and other financial and technical assistance related to broadband and digital infrastructure; and to provide the powers and duties of certain state officers and entities.
