- Representative Tsernoglou moved to adopt the meeting minutes from June 5, 2024. There being no objection, the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. The Chair laid SB 282, SB 708 and SB 709 before the committee: SB 282 (Sen. Santana) A bill to amend 1956 PA 218, entitled "The insurance code of 1956," (MCL 500.100 to 500.8302) by adding section 2116c. SB 708 (Sen. Santana) A bill to amend 1956 PA 218, entitled "The insurance code of 1956," by amending section 2120 (MCL 500.2120), as amended by 2019 PA 21. SB 709 (Sen. Santana) A bill to amend 1956 PA 218, entitled "The insurance code of 1956," by amending section 2118 (MCL 500.2118), as amended by 2019 PA 21. Dr. Raphael Johnson, Legislative Director for Senator Santana, and Dani Hourani, testified in support of the bills. Questions and discussion followed. The following people submitted a card in support of SB 282, SB 708 and SB 709, but did not wish to speak: Kevin McKinney, representing CPAN. Joseph Sullivan, representing the Michigan Department of Insurance and Financial Services.
