BRENDA CARTER CHAIR COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES Thursday, November 14, 2024 9:00 AM Room 521, House Office Building The House Committee on Insurance and Financial Services was called to order by Chair Brenda Carter. The Chair requested attendance be called: Present: Reps. Brenda Carter, McFall, Breen, Rogers, Scott, Young, Fitzgerald, Grant, Tsernoglou, Xiong, Harris, Markkanen, Bezotte, Aragona, Bruck, Neyer, Smit. Absent: None. Excused: None. Representative Tsernoglou moved to adopt the meeting minutes from June 5, 2024. There being no objection, the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. The Chair laid SB 282, SB 708 and SB 709 before the committee: SB 282 (Sen. Santana) A bill to amend 1956 PA 218, entitled "The insurance code of 1956," (MCL 500.100 to 500.8302) by adding section 2116c. SB 708 (Sen. Santana) A bill to amend 1956 PA 218, entitled "The insurance code of 1956," by amending section 2120 (MCL 500.2120), as amended by 2019 PA 21. SB 709 (Sen. Santana) A bill to amend 1956 PA 218, entitled "The insurance code of 1956," by amending section 2118 (MCL 500.2118), as amended by 2019 PA 21. Dr. Raphael Johnson, Legislative Director for Senator Santana, and Dani Hourani, testified in support of the bills. Questions and discussion followed.
