- HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES COMMITTEE ON GOVERNMENT OPERATIONS REP. TULLIO LIBERATI CHAIR COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES Wednesday, June 12, 2024 12:00 PM Room 307, House Office Building The House Committee on Government Operations was called to order by Chair Liberati. The Chair requested attendance be called: Present: Reps. Liberati, Pohutsky, McFall, Posthumus, Greene. Absent: None. Excused: None. Representative McFall moved to adopt the meeting minutes from June 5, 2024. There being no objection, the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. The Chair laid HB 4971 before the committee: HB 4971 (Rep. Jaime Greene) A bill to designate this state as a purple heart state. Representative Greene and Susan Howard, whose husband received a purple heart and is an active member in her local VFW, testified in support of HB 4971. The following person submitted a card in support of HB 4971, but did not wish to speak: Heather Feuerstein, representing the Michigan Department of Military and Veteran Affairs. The Chair laid HB 5718 before the committee: HB 5718 (Rep. Thompson) A bill to designate the third Sunday of April of each year as Autism Acceptance Day. Representative Thompson and Xavier DeGroat, representing the Xavier DeGroat Autism Foundation, testified in support of HB 5718. Questions and discussion followed. The following person submitted a card in support of HB 5718, but did not wish to speak: Colleen Allen, representing The Autism Alliance of Michigan.
