NATE SHANNON CHAIR COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES Tuesday, November 12, 2024 10:30 AM Room 521, House Office Building The House Committee on Transportation, Mobility and Infrastructure was called to order by Chair Shannon. The Chair requested attendance be called: Present: Reps. Shannon, MacDonell, Conlin, Farhat, Fitzgerald, Hoskins, Miller, Herzberg, Outman, Roth, Bruck, Kunse, St. Germaine. Absent: None. Excused: None. Representative Hoskins moved to adopt the meeting minutes from June 18, 2024. There being no objection, the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. The Chair laid SB 617 and SB 618 before the committee: SB 617 (Sen. McCann) A bill to amend 1949 PA 300, entitled "Michigan vehicle code," by amending sections 303, 320a, and 601c (MCL 257.303, 257.320a, and 257.601c), section 303 as amended by 2024 PA 42, section 320a as amended by 2023 PA 39, and section 601c as added by 2001 PA 103. SB 618 (Sen. Klinefelt) A bill to amend 1949 PA 300, entitled "Michigan vehicle code," (MCL 257.1 to 257.923) by adding section 79g. Representative Rogers testified in support of SB 617 and SB 618. Questions and discussion followed. Jeffrey Carek and John Linden Mayer, representing the League of Michigan Bicyclists, testified in support of SB 617 and SB 618. Questions and discussion followed. John Waterman and Shawn Kohsmann, representing PEAC, testified in support of SB 617 and SB 618. Questions and discussion followed. Representative Farhat, joined by Ahmed Said and Mohamed Said, testified in support of HB 5924. Questions and discussion followed. Stopczynski port authority act," by amending the title and sections 2, 8, 9, 10, 13, 14, 14a, 16, 18, 20, 23, 24, and 25 (MCL 120.102, 120.108, 120.109, 120.110, 120.113, 120.114, 120.114a, 120.116, 120.118, 120.120, 120.123, 120.124, and 120.125), the title as amended and section 14a as added by 1998 PA 188, sections 14 and 18 as amended by 2002 PA 412, and section 23 as amended by 1984 PA 256, and by adding section 19a. Brian Mercos, representing the Office of Senator Geiss, and Mark Schrupp, representing the Detroit/Wayne County Port Authority, testified in support of SB 893. Questions and discussion followed. The following person submitted a card with a neutral position on SB 893, but did not wish to speak: Mark Polsdofer, representing the Michigan Department of Transportation.
