MATT KOLESZAR CHAIR COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES Wednesday, December 4, 2024 2:00 PM Room 521, House Office Building The House Committee on Education was called to order by Chair Koleszar. The Chair requested attendance be called: Present: Reps. Koleszar, Churches, Shannon, Weiss, Glanville, Conlin, Edwards, Wegela, Xiong, Markkanen, Paquette, Wendzel, Johnsen. Absent: Rep. Greene. Excused: Rep. Greene. Representative Shannon moved to adopt the meeting minutes from December 3, 2024. There being no objection, the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. The Chair laid HB 4095, HB 4096, HB 5549, HB 5659 and HB 5660 before the committee: HB 4095 (Rep. Young) A bill to amend 1976 PA 451, entitled "The revised school code," (MCL 380.1 to 380.1852) by adding section 1308d. HB 4096 (Rep. Puri) A bill to amend 1976 PA 451, entitled "The revised school code," (MCL 380.1 to 380.1852) by adding section 1308c. HB 5549 (Rep. Breen) A bill to amend 1976 PA 451, entitled "The revised school code," (MCL 380.1 to 380.1852) by adding section 1308c. HB 5659 (Rep. Meerman) A bill to amend 2018 PA 548, entitled "Comprehensive school safety plan act," by amending the title and section 3 (MCL 28.803) and by adding section 6; and to repeal acts and parts of acts. HB 5660 (Rep. DeBoer) A bill to amend 1976 PA 451, entitled "The revised school code," by amending sections 6, 1241, and 1308a (MCL 380.6, 380.1241, and 380.1308a), section 6 as amended by 2016 PA 192, section 1241 as added by 2018 PA 549, and section 1308a as added by 2018 PA 551. Representative Wendzel moved to excuse Representative Greene from the meeting. There being no objection the motion prevailed by unanimous consent.
