- HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES COMMITTEE ON RULES REP. BILL SCHUETTE CHAIR COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES The House Committee on Rules was called to order by Chair Schuette. The Clerk read a letter dated January 30th, 2025, from House Speaker Matt Hall which appointed members of the Committee on Rules. The Chair requested attendance to be called: Present: Reps.Schuette, Aragona, Wendzel, Martin, Posthumus, DeBoer, Witwer and Liberati. Absent: Rep. Herzberg. Excused: Rep. Herzberg. Chair Schuette stated that the House Committee on Rules will follow the Uniform Committee Rules, stated in the House Standing Rules, that were adopted on the House Floor. Chair Schuette offered the following proposed committee rule: At the discretion of the committee chair, a member of the public may address the committee regarding business before the committee. The committee may accept written testimony in lieu of oral testimony. Representative Martin moved to adopt the proposed committee rule. The motion prevailed 7-0-0: FAVORABLE ROLL CALL Yeas: Reps. Schuette, Aragona, Wendzel, Martin, Posthumus, Witwer and Liberati. Nays: None. Pass: None. Representative McFall moved to adopt Thursdays at 10:30 a.m., in room 519 of the House Office Building as the normal day, time, and location for meetings of the House Committee on Rules. The motion prevailed 7-0-0: FAVORABLE ROLL CALL Thursday, February 20, 2025 10:30 AM Room 519, House Office Building Yeas: Reps. Schuette, Aragona, Wendzel, Martin, Posthumus, Witwer and Liberati. Nays: None. Pass: None. The Chair laid a presentation on the Michigan Office of Administrative Hearings and Rules before the committee. Executive Director Suzanne Sonneborn, Katie Wienczewski, and Director of Policy and Legislative Affairs for the Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs Paige Fults, representing the Michigan Office of Administrative Hearings and Rules gave a presentation. Questions and discussions followed. Representative Wendzel moved to excuse Rep. Herzberg from the meeting. There being no objection the motion prevailed by unanimous consent.
