FELICIA BRABEC CHAIR COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES Thursday, January 25, 2024 9:00 AM Room 519, House Office Building The House Health Policy Subcommittee on Behavioral Health was called to order by Chair Brabec. The Chair requested attendance be called: Present: Reps. Brabec, Arbit, Pohutsky, Glanville, Edwards, MacDonell, Rheingans, Schmaltz, Hoadley, St. Germaine. Absent: Rep. Thompson. Excused: Rep. Thompson. Representative Pohutsky moved to adopt the meeting minutes from November 9, 2023. There being no objection, the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. The Chair laid HB 5114 before the committee: HB 5114 (Rep. Representative Glanville moved to refer HB 5078 to the Committee on Health Policy. The motion prevailed 7-0-3: FAVORABLE ROLL CALL Yeas: Reps. Brabec, Arbit, Pohutsky, Glanville, Edwards, MacDonell, Rheingans. Nays: None. Pass: Reps. Schmaltz, Hoadley, St. Germaine. The Chair laid HB 5179 before the committee: HB 5179 (Rep. Rheingans) A bill to amend 1978 PA 368, entitled "Public health code," by amending section 7451 (MCL 333.7451), as added by 1988 PA 139. The following people submitted a card in support of HB 5179, but did not wish to speak: Sara Ismail, representing ACCESS. Yousef Rabhi, representing the Michigan Nurses Association. Representative Edwards moved to refer HB 5179 to the Committee on Health Policy. The motion prevailed 7-3-0: FAVORABLE ROLL CALL Yeas: Reps. Representative Schmaltz moved to excuse Representative Thompson from the meeting. There being no objection the motion prevailed by unanimous consent.
