KRISTIAN GRANT CHAIR COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES Thursday, May 16, 2024 10:30 AM Room 326, House Office Building The House Economic Development and Small Business Subcommittee on Housing was called to order by Chair Grant. The Chair requested attendance be called: Present: Reps. Grant, Dievendorf, Scott, Andrews, Tsernoglou, Aragona, Fink, DeBoyer. Absent: Rep. Zorn. Excused: Rep. Zorn. Representative Tsernoglou moved to adopt the meeting minutes from April 25, 2024. There being no objection, the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. The Chair laid HB 5557 before the committee: HB 5557 (Rep. Grant) A bill to amend 2008 PA 33, entitled "Michigan planning enabling act," by amending sections 7, 15, and 33 (MCL 125.3807, 125.3815, and 125.3833), section 7 as amended by 2010 PA 134, section 15 as amended by 2010 PA 105, and section 33 as amended by 2010 PA 306. At 10:32 AM, the Chair laid the committee at ease. At 10:33 AM, Majority Vice Chair Dievendorf called the committee back to order. Representative Kristian Grant testified in support of HB 5557. Andrea Brown, representing the Michigan Association of Planning, testified in support of HB 5557. Brian Connolly, representing the Michigan Association of Planning, testified in support of HB 5557. Jen Rigterink, representing the Michigan Municipal League, testified in support of HB 5557. At 10:47 AM, Majority Vice Chair Dievendorf laid the committee at ease. At 10:47 AM, the Chair called the committee back to order. The following people submitted a card in support of HB 5557, but did not wish to speak: Erika Farley, representing the Rental Property Owners Association of Michigan and Kent County. Holly Tatman, representing the Apartment Association of Michigan. Yarrow Brown, representing Housing North. Jacob Manning, representing the Small Business Association of Michigan. Dawn Crandall, representing the Home Builders Association of Michigan. Josh Lunge, representing the Grand Rapids Chamber. Kathleen Duffy, representing the Smith Group. Judy Allen, representing the Michigan Townships Association. Mark Garcia, representing the Michigan State Housing Development Association. Shawon Cecil, representing Michigan Realtors. John Fournier, representing the City of Ann Arbor. Representative Dievendorf moved to excuse Representative Zorn from the meeting. There being no objection the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. There being no further business before the subcommittee, Chair Grant adjourned the meeting at 10:50 AM.
