KRISTIAN GRANT CHAIR COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES Thursday, May 23, 2024 10:30 AM Room 326, House Office Building The House Economic Development and Small Business Subcommittee on Housing was called to order by Chair Grant. The Chair requested attendance be called: Present: Reps. Grant, Dievendorf, Scott, Andrews, Tsernoglou, Aragona, Zorn, Fink, DeBoyer. Absent: None. Excused: None. Representative Scott moved to adopt the meeting minutes from May 16, 2024. There being no objection, the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. The Chair laid HB 5557 before the committee: HB 5557 (Rep. Grant) A bill to amend 2008 PA 33, entitled "Michigan planning enabling act," by amending sections 7, 15, and 33 (MCL 125.3807, 125.3815, and 125.3833), section 7 as amended by 2010 PA 134, section 15 as amended by 2010 PA 105, and section 33 as amended by 2010 PA 306. The Committee discussed HB 5557. The following people submitted a card in support of HB 5557, but did not wish to speak: Diane Middleton, representing the Midland Business Alliance. Jim Schaafsma, representing the The Michigan Poverty Law Program. Joel Arnold, representing the Communities First Incorporated. Jon Kirsch, representing the Property Management Association of Michigan. Jennifer Bowman, representing the Michigan State Housing Development Authority. Representative Aragona moved to refer House Bill No. 5557 to the Committee on Economic Development and Small Business. The motion prevailed 9-0-0: FAVORABLE ROLL CALL Yeas: Reps. Grant, Dievendorf, Scott, Andrews, Tsernoglou, Aragona, Zorn, Fink, DeBoyer. Nays: None. Pass: None. There being no further business before the subcommittee, Chair Grant adjourned the meeting at 10:36 AM.
