HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES COMMITTEE ON OVERSIGHT REP. STEVEN JOHNSON CHAIR COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES Thursday, January 28, 2021 10:30 AM Room 519, House Office Building The House Committee on Oversight was called to order by Chair Steven Johnson. The Clerk read in a letter from House Speaker Wentworth appointing members to the House Oversight Committee. The Chair requested attendance be called: Present: Reps. Steven Johnson, Outman, Hoitenga, Reilly, O'Malley, Wozniak, Brixie, LaGrand, Young. Absent: None. Excused: None. Representative Outman motioned to adopt Thursday at 10:30 a.m. in Room 326 of the House Office Building as the normal day, time, and location for meetings of the House Oversight Committee. The motion prevailed 9-0-0: FAVORABLE ROLL CALL Yeas: Reps. Steven Johnson, Outman, Hoitenga, Reilly, O'Malley, Wozniak, Brixie, LaGrand, Young. Nays: None. Pass: None. The Chair stated that the Committee on Oversight will follow the committee rules, as prescribed in Chapter IV of the House Rules. Chair Johnson and Vice Chair Brixie made remarks to the committee. The Chair laid the following before the committee: Review on January 22, 2021 Gatherings and Face Mask Order, specifically Section 6, Organized Sports Gathering Restrictions. John Thompson, a Michigan Highschool Athletic Association Board Member, testified before the committee. Questions and discussion followed. Ethan Coady, a Coopersville Basketball Player, testified with before the committee. Questions and discussion followed. Jay Riemersma, a parent and former athlete, testified before the committee. Jim Woodworth, the Basketball Coach at Corunna High School, testified before the committee. Questions and discussion followed. Jason Friday, the Cheboygan High School Boys Basketball Coach and Athletic Director, testified before the committee. Questions and discussion followed. Jayme McElvany, the Director of Let Them Play Michigan, testified before the committee. Questions and discussion followed. Jillian Molnar, a Highschool Athlete, testified before the committee. Questions and discussion followed. Nicolas Johnson, a High School Athlete, testified before the committee. Questions and discussion followed. Nataleigh Badgero, a High School Athlete, testified before the committee. Questions and discussion followed. Matt Seidl, the Olivet High School Athletic Director and Boys Basketball Coach, testified before the committee. Jen Kozlowski, a Rockford Highschool parent, testified before the committee. Noah Johnson, a Grandville Sports parent. Brock Gibson, a U12 Boys Hockey Coach. There being no further business before the committee, Chair Steven Johnson adjourned the meeting at 11:46 AM.
