- HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES COMMITTEE ON OVERSIGHT REP. JAY DEBOYER CHAIR COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES The House Committee on Oversight was called to order by Chair DeBoyer. The House Standing Committee on Oversight was meeting jointly with the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Corrections and Judiciary. The Chair requested attendance to be called: Present: Reps. DeBoyer, Bierlein, Meerman, Paquette, Carra, Bruck, Jaime Greene, Rigas, Schriver, Woolford, Miller, Pohutsky, Conlin, MacDonell, Mentzer, Tsernoglou and Wegela. Absent: None. Excused: None. Representative Jaime Greene moved to adopt the meeting minutes from April 15, 2025. There being no objection, the motion prevailed with unanimous consent. The Chair laid before the committee a presentation on the Michigan Auditor General Performance Audits of the Baraga Correctional Facility, Michigan Department of Corrections, March 2025 #471-0207-23, Richard A. Handlon Correctional Facility, Michigan Department of Corrections, March 2025 #471-0215-23, and the Ionia Correctional Facility, Michigan Department of Corrections, March 2025 #471-0233-23. Leah Decker, Lori Leaming, and Kelly D. Miller, representing the Michigan Office of the Auditor General, gave a presentation on the Michigan Auditor General Performance Audits of the Baraga, Richard A. Handlon, and Ionia Correctional Facilities in the Michigan Department of Corrections. Questions and discussion followed. Kyle Kaminski, Offender Success Administrator and Legislative Liaison, representing the Michigan Department of Corrections, responded to the presentation from the Michigan Auditor General Performance Audits of the Baraga, Richard A. Handlon, and Ionia Correctional Facilities in the Michigan Department of Corrections. Questions and discussion followed. There being no further business before the committee, Chair DeBoyer adjourned the meeting at 10:36 AM.
