HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES COMMITTEE ON TRANSPORTATION REP. JACK O'MALLEY CHAIR COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES Tuesday, February 9, 2021 10:30 AM Room 519, House Office Building The House Committee on Transportation was called to order by Chair O'Malley. The Chair requested attendance be called: Present: Reps. O'Malley, Eisen, Howell, Griffin, LaFave, Berman, Carra, Roth, Sneller, Clemente, Shannon, Liberati, Puri. Absent: None. Excused: None. Representative Eisen made a motion to amend the Standing Day, Time, and Location to Tuesday, at 10:30am in Room 521 of the House Office Building. The motion prevailed 13-0-0: FAVORABLE ROLL CALL Yeas: Reps. O'Malley, Eisen, Howell, Griffin, LaFave, Berman, Carra, Roth, Sneller, Clemente, Shannon, Liberati, Puri. Nays: None. Pass: None. Representative Roth moved to adopt the meeting minutes from February 2, 2021. There being no objection, the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. The Chair laid SB 30 before the committee: SB 30 (Sen. Hollier) A bill to amend 2001 PA 142, entitled "Michigan memorial highway act," (MCL 250.1001 to 250.2083) by adding section 1070a. Senator Hollier testified in support of SB 30. Representative Howell moved to report out SB 30 with recommendation. The motion prevailed 13-0-0: FAVORABLE ROLL CALL Yeas: Reps. O'Malley, Eisen, Howell, Griffin, LaFave, Berman, Carra, Roth, Sneller, Clemente, Shannon, Liberati, Puri. Nays: None. Pass: None. The following people submitted a card with a neutral position on SB 30, but did not wish to speak: Mike Polsdofer, representing the Michigan Department of Transportation. The Chair laid the Railroad Transportation presentation before the committee. Jon Cool, representing the Michigan Railroad Association, joined by Larry Lloyd, representing CN, both provided a presentation on Railroad Transportation. Questions and discussion followed. The Chair laid the Michigan Aviation System presentation before the committee. Rick Fiddler, Chairman of the Michigan Aeronautics Commission, and Kevin Klein, Airport Director of Cherry Capital Airport, both provided a presentation on Michigan's Aviation System. The Chair laid the Port of Monroe presentation before the committee. Paul LaMarre, representing the Port of Monroe, provided a presentation on the Port of Monroe The Chair laid the Port of Detroit presentation before the committee. Kyle Burleson, representing the Detroit/Wayne County Port Authority, submitted a presentation on the Port of Detroit: Overview, but due to time constraints, did not get to speak.
