BRONNA KAHLE CHAIR COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES Thursday, February 11, 2021 10:30 AM Room 352, House Appropriations, State Capitol Building The House Committee on Health Policy was called to order by Chair Kahle. The Chair requested attendance be called: Present: Reps. Kahle, Meerman, Whiteford, Alexander, Allor, Hauck, Filler, Mueller, Beeler, Fink, Roth, Tisdel, Witwer, Clemente, Pohutsky, Stone, Whitsett, Neeley, Morse. Absent: None. Excused: None. Representative Hauck moved to adopt the meeting minutes from February 4, 2021. There being no objection, the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. The Chair laid HB 4043 and HB 4044 before the committee: HB 4043 (Rep. Whiteford) A bill to amend 1974 PA 258, entitled "Mental health code," by amending section 151 (MCL 330.1151), as added by 2018 PA 658. HB 4044 (Rep. Whiteford) A bill to amend 1974 PA 258, entitled "Mental health code," by amending section 165 (MCL 330.1165), as added by 2020 PA 12. Rep. Whiteford, testified in support of HB 4043 and HB 4044. Questions and discussion followed. Allen Jansen, Deputy Director of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities Administration, and Jon Villasurda, both representing the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, testified in support of HB 4043 and HB 4044. Questions and discussion followed. The following people submitted a card in support of HB 4043 and HB 4044, but did not wish to speak: Heather Nicholoff, representing the Michigan Council of Nurse Practitioners. Dana Lasenby, CEO, representing the Oakland Community Health Network. The Chair laid HB 4067 before the committee: HB 4067 (Rep. Frederick) A bill to amend 1978 PA 368, entitled "Public health code," by amending sections 16605 and 16608 (MCL 333.16605 and 333.16608), section 16605 as amended by 2018 PA 463 and section 16608 as amended by 2002 PA 643. Rep. Frederick, testified in support of HB 4067. Questions and discussion followed. Dr. Margaret Gingrich and Josh Kluzak, both representing the Michigan Dental Association, testified in support of HB 4067. Questions and discussion followed. The following people submitted a card in support of HB 4067, but did not wish to speak: Ellen Sugrue Hyman, representing the Michigan Oral Health Coalition. Manny Lentine, representing the Council of Michigan Dental Specialists. Kevin McKinney, representing the Michigan Association of Orthodontists.
