- HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES COMMITTEE ON COMMERCE AND TOURISM REP. STEVE MARINO CHAIR COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES Tuesday, February 23, 2021 9:00 AM Room 327, House Office Building The House Committee on Commerce and Tourism was called to order by the Chair Marino. The Clerk read the letter from Speaker of the House of Representatives, Jason Wentworth, appointing the following members to the Commerce and Tourism committee: Representatives Marino (Chairman), Roth (Majority Vice Chairman), Farrington, Wakeman, Wendzel, Martin, Cambensy (Minority Vice Chairman), Cherry, Manoogian, Whitsett, Liberati. The Chair requested attendance be called: Present: Reps. Marino, Roth, Farrington, Wakeman, Wendzel, Martin, Cambensy, Cherry, Manoogian, Whitsett, Liberati. Absent: None. Excused: None. Representative Whitsett attended the meeting remotely. Representative Roth moved to adopt the appointed meeting date, time and location of the regularly scheduled meetings: Tuesday, 9:00 a.m., room 327 of the House Office Building. The motion prevailed 10-0-0: FAVORABLE ROLL CALL Yeas: Reps. Marino, Roth, Farrington, Wakeman, Wendzel, Martin, Cambensy, Cherry, Manoogian, Liberati. Nays: None. Pass: None. The Chair announced that the Commerce and Tourism committee will follow the Committee Rules, as prescribed in Chapter IV of the House Rules. The Chair laid HB 4052 before the committee: HB 4052 (Rep. Hoitenga) A bill to provide for the official time followed in this state; and to prescribe the powers and duties of certain state agencies and officials. Representative Hoitenga, testified in support of HB 4052. Jay Pea, representing the Save Standard Time, testified in opposition to HB 4052. The following people submitted a card in support of HB 4052, but did not wish to speak: Rob Anderson, representing the Michigan Farm Bureau. The following people submitted a card in opposition to HB 4052, but did not wish to speak: Christopher E. Morgan, MD, representing the Michigan Academy of Sleep Medicine. Jada Paisley, representing the Michigan Golf Course Association. There being no further business before the committee, Representative Cambensy moved to adjourn the Committee. There being no objection, the motion prevailed by unanimous consent.
