- HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES COMMITTEE ON HEALTH POLICY REP. BRONNA KAHLE CHAIR COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES Tuesday, March 9, 2021 6:00 PM Room 352, House Appropriations, State Capitol Building The House Committee on Health Policy was called to order by Chair Kahle. The Chair requested attendance be called: Present: Reps. Kahle, Meerman, Whiteford, Alexander, Allor, Hauck, Filler, Mueller, Beeler, Fink, Roth, Tisdel, Witwer, Clemente, Pohutsky, Stone, Whitsett, Morse. Absent: Rep. Neeley. Excused: Rep. Neeley. Representative Roth moved to adopt the meeting minutes from March 3, 2021. There being no objection, the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. Representative Beeler moved to adopt the meeting minutes from March 4, 2021. There being no objection, the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. The Chair laid HB 4359 before the committee: HB 4359 (Rep. Whiteford) A bill to amend 1978 PA 368, entitled "Public health code," by amending sections 17210 and 17708 (MCL 333.17210 and 333.17708), section 17210 as amended by 2017 PA 22 and section 17708 as amended by 2020 PA 4. The following people submitted a card in support of HB 4359, but did not wish to speak: Bret Jackson, representing the Economic Alliance for Michigan The following people submitted a card in opposition to HB 4359, but did not wish to speak: Danny Ma, MD, representing the Michigan Radiological Society. The following people submitted a card with a neutral position on HB 4359, but did not wish to speak: David Worthams, representing the Michigan Manufacturers Association Representative Alexander moved to report out HB 4359 with recommendation. The motion prevailed 14-2-2: FAVORABLE ROLL CALL Yeas: Reps. Kahle, Meerman, Whiteford, Alexander, Allor, Hauck, Beeler, Fink, Roth, Tisdel, Witwer, Pohutsky, Whitsett, Morse. Nays: Reps. Filler, Mueller. Pass: Reps. Clemente, Stone. Representative Witwer moved to excuse Representative Neeley from the meeting. There being no objection the motion prevailed by unanimous consent.
