- HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES COMMITTEE ON WORKFORCE, TRADES, AND TALENT REP. BETH GRIFFIN CHAIR COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES Thursday, March 11, 2021 9:00 a.m. Room 519, House Office Building The House Committee on Workforce, Trades, and Talent was called to order by the Chair. The Chair requested attendance be called. The Clerk called the attendance and a quorum was present. Present: Reps. Griffin, Martin, Howell, Farrington, Eisen, Markkanen, Sabo, Hope, O'Neal. Absent: None. Excused: None. Representative Martin moved to adopt the meeting minutes from March 4, 2021. There being no objections, the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. The Chair laid before the committee Michigan Manufacturers Association's presentations. David Quinton Worthams, Director of Human Resource Policy for the Michigan Manufacturing Association, testified on the importance of having Career and Technical Education (CTE) in Michigan high schools. Questions followed. A copy of his written testimony is attached. Mike Johnston, Vice President of Government Affairs for the Michigan Manufacturing Association, testified on the association's Manufacturing Agenda for 2021-2022 legislative session. Question followed. A copy of his handout is attached. Rob Luce, Vice President of SME Education Foundation, did a PowerPoint presentation on SME's Prime program. Questions followed. A copy is attached. There being no further business before the committee; Representative Markkanen moved that the committee adjourn.
