- HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES COMMITTEE ON COMMERCE AND TOURISM REP. STEVE MARINO CHAIR COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES Tuesday, March 16, 2021 9:00 AM Room 327, House Office Building The House Committee on Commerce and Tourism was called to order by Chair Marino. At 9:00 AM, the Chair laid the committee at ease. At 9:15 AM, the Chair called the committee back to order. The Chair requested attendance be called: Present: Reps. Marino, Roth, Farrington, Wakeman, Wendzel, Martin, Cambensy, Cherry, Manoogian, Whitsett, Liberati. Absent: None. Excused: None. Representative Roth moved to adopt the meeting minutes from February 23, 2021. There being no objection, the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. The Chair laid HB 4052 before the committee: HB 4052 (Rep. Hoitenga) A bill to provide for the official time followed in this state; and to prescribe the powers and duties of certain state agencies and officials. At 9:16 AM, the Chair laid the committee at ease. At 9:17 AM, the Chair called the committee back to order. The Chair laid HB 4272 before the committee: HB 4272 (Rep. Steven Johnson) A bill to regulate the labeling of certain portable fuel containers as made in and for use in Michigan; and to make findings that, under certain circumstances, portable fuel containers have not entered or substantially affected interstate commerce. Representative Steven Johnson testified in support of HB 4272. Representative Brann testified in support of HB 4272. Travis Boeskool and Mary Ann Dolehanty, representing the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy, testified in opposition to HB 4272. The Chair returned to HB 4052. The following people submitted a card in support of HB 4052, but did not wish to speak: Jada Paisley, representing the Michigan Golf Club Association. Representative Roth moved to adopt substitute (H-1) to HB 4052. The motion prevailed 11-0- 0: FAVORABLE ROLL CALL Yeas: Reps. Marino, Roth, Farrington, Wakeman, Wendzel, Martin, Cambensy, Cherry, Manoogian, Whitsett, Liberati. Nays: None. Pass: None. Keith Eichner, representing Save Standard Time, testified in opposition to HB 4052. Representative Roth moved to report out HB 4052 with recommendation, as substitute (H-1). The motion prevailed 8-2-1: FAVORABLE ROLL CALL Yeas: Reps. Marino, Roth, Farrington, Wakeman, Martin, Manoogian, Whitsett, Liberati. Nays: Reps. Wendzel, Cherry. Pass: Rep. Cambensy. There being no further business before the committee, Representative Wakeman moved to adjourn the Committee. There being no objection, the motion prevailed by unanimous consent.
