- HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES COMMITTEE ON ELECTIONS AND ETHICS REP. ANN BOLLIN CHAIR COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES Tuesday, March 16, 2021 12:00 PM Room 326, House Office Building The House Committee on Elections and Ethics was called to order by Chair Bollin. The Chair requested attendance be called: Present: Reps. Bollin, Wendzel, Calley, Steven Johnson, Filler, Koleszar, Whitsett. Absent: None. Excused: None. The Chair laid HB 4492 before the committee: HB 4492 (Rep. Bollin) A bill to amend 1954 PA 116, entitled "Michigan election law," by amending section 662 (MCL 168.662), as amended by 2004 PA 92. Chair Bollin, testified in support of HB 4492. Questions and discussion followed. Mary Clark, representing the MI Association of Municipal Clerks, testified in support of HB 4492. Questions and discussion followed. Adam Reames, representing the Michigan Department of State, testified with a neutral position on HB 4492. Questions and discussion followed. The following people submitted a card in support of HB 4492, but did not wish to speak: Merissa Kovach, representing the ACLU. Herasanna Richards, representing the Michigan Municipal League. Nick Occhipinti, representing the Michigan League of Conservation Voters. Tom Frazier, representing the Michigan Townships Association. The Chair laid HB 4200 before the committee: HB 4200 (Rep. Slagh) A bill to amend 1954 PA 116, entitled "Michigan election law," by amending section 477 (MCL 168.477), as amended by 2018 PA 608. Representative Slagh, testified in support of HB 4200. Questions and discussion followed. Adam Reames, representing the Michigan Department of State, testified with a neutral position on HB 4200. Questions and discussion followed. Representative Wendzel moved to adopt the minutes from the March 10th, 2021 meeting. There being no objection, the motion prevailed by unanimous consent.
