- HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES COMMITTEE ON COMMERCE AND TOURISM REP. STEVE MARINO CHAIR COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES Tuesday, March 23, 2021 9:00 AM Room 327, House Office Building The House Committee on Commerce and Tourism was called to order by Chair Marino. The Chair requested attendance be called: Present: Reps. Marino, Roth, Farrington, Wakeman, Wendzel, Martin, Cambensy, Cherry, Manoogian, Whitsett, Liberati. Absent: None. Excused: None. Representative Wakeman moved to adopt the meeting minutes from March 16, 2021. There being no objection, the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. The Chair laid HB 4471 before the committee: HB 4471 (Rep. Allor) A bill to prohibit employers from discriminating against an individual because the individual has not received or declines to receive certain vaccinations; to prohibit retaliation; and to provide remedies. Representative Manoogian moved to refer HB 4471 to the Committee on Workforce, Trades, and Talent. The motion prevailed 11-0-0: FAVORABLE ROLL CALL Yeas: Reps. Marino, Roth, Farrington, Wakeman, Wendzel, Martin, Cambensy, Cherry, Manoogian, Whitsett, Liberati. Nays: None. Pass: None. The Chair laid HB 4272 before the committee: HB 4272 (Rep. Steven Johnson) A bill to regulate the labeling of certain portable fuel containers as made in and for use in Michigan; and to make findings that, under certain circumstances, portable fuel containers have not entered or substantially affected interstate commerce. Representative Roth moved to report out HB 4272 with recommendation. The motion prevailed 8-3-0: FAVORABLE ROLL CALL Yeas: Reps. Marino, Roth, Farrington, Wakeman, Martin, Cambensy, Whitsett, Liberati. Nays: Reps. Wendzel, Cherry, Manoogian. Pass: None. Larisa Draves and Janet Korn, representing the Michigan Association of Convention and Visitor Bureaus, gave an overview presentation to the committee. Questions and discussion followed.
