GRAHAM FILLER CHAIR COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES Tuesday, March 23, 2021 9:00 AM Room 519, House Office Building The House Committee on Judiciary was called to order by Chairman Filler. The Chair requested attendance be called: Present: Reps. Filler, Mueller, Steven Johnson, Kahle, Rendon, Berman, Wozniak, Clements, LaGrand, Yancey, Bolden, Hope, Breen. Absent: None. Excused: None. Representative Mueller moved to adopt the meeting minutes from March 16, 2021. There being no objection, the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. The Chair laid HB 4447 before the committee: HB 4447 (Rep. Lightner) A bill to amend 1961 PA 236, entitled "Revised judicature act of 1961," by amending sections 555, 821, 822, and 8202 (MCL 600.555, 600.821, 600.822, and 600.8202), sections 555 and 8202 as amended by 2016 PA 31, section 821 as amended by 2018 PA 6, and section 822 as amended by 2003 PA 40. Representative Lightner, testified in support of HB 4447. Questions and discussion followed. Tom Boyd, representing the State Court Administrative Office - Trial Court Funding Commission, testified in opposition to HB 4447. Questions and discussion followed. Judge Bill Kelly, representing the Michigan District Judges Association, testified in opposition to HB 4447. Bruce Timmons, representing the himself, testified in opposition to HB 4447.
