BEAU MATTHEW LAFAVE CHAIR COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES Tuesday, March 23, 2021 12:00 PM Room 521, House Office Building The House Committee on Military, Veterans and Homeland Security was called to order by Chair LaFave. The Chair requested attendance be called: Present: Reps. LaFave, Beeler, Eisen, Bezotte, Martin, Jones, Coleman, Rogers, Steenland. Absent: None. Excused: None. Representative Coleman moved to adopt the meeting minutes from March 16, 2021. There being no objection, the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. The Chair laid SB 10 before the committee: SB 10 (Sen. Theis) A bill to amend 1976 PA 267, entitled "Open meetings act," by amending section 8 (MCL 15.268), as amended by 2018 PA 467. The following person submitted a card in support of SB 10, but did not wish to speak: Mark Sutton, representing the American Legion-Department of Michigan. Representative Martin moved to adopt substitute (H-2) to SB 10. The motion prevailed 8-0-0: FAVORABLE ROLL CALL Yeas: Reps. LaFave, Beeler, Eisen, Bezotte, Martin, Jones, Coleman, Steenland. Nays: None. Pass: None. Representative Beeler moved to report SB 10 with recommendation, as substitute (H-2). The motion prevailed 8-0-0: FAVORABLE ROLL CALL Yeas: Reps. LaFave) A bill to amend 1994 PA 451, entitled "Natural resources and environmental protection act," by amending section 40111 (MCL 324.40111), as amended by 2018 PA 272. At 12:02 PM, the Chair laid the committee at ease. At 12:03 PM, the Majority Vice Chair Andrew Beeler called the committee back to order. Chair LaFave introduced the bill. Representative Jones moved to reconsider the vote by which SB 10 was reported with recommendation, as substitute (H-2). The motion prevailed 9-0-0: FAVORABLE ROLL CALL Yeas: Reps. LaFave, Beeler, Eisen, Bezotte, Martin, Jones, Coleman, Rogers, Steenland. Nays: None. Pass: None. Representative Beeler moved to report out SB 10 with recommendation, as substitute (H-2).
