- HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES COMMITTEE ON MILITARY, VETERANS AND HOMELAND SECURITY REP. BEAU MATTHEW LAFAVE CHAIR COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES Tuesday, April 13, 2021 12:00 PM Room 521, House Office Building The House Committee on Military, Veterans and Homeland Security was called to order by Chair LaFave. The Chair requested attendance be called: Present: Reps. LaFave, Beeler, Eisen, Bezotte, Martin, Jones, Coleman, Rogers, Steenland. Absent: None. Excused: None. Representative Jones moved to adopt the meeting minutes from March 23, 2021. There being no objection, the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. The Chair invited Tom Lambert, representing Michigan Open Carry, to give a presentation on Michigan concealed pistol licenses. Questions and discussion followed. The Chair laid HB 4078 before the committee: HB 4078 (Rep. LaFave) A bill to amend 1994 PA 451, entitled "Natural resources and environmental protection act," by amending section 40111 (MCL 324.40111), as amended by 2018 PA 272. The following person submitted a card in support of HB 4078, but did not wish to speak: Tom Lambert, representing the Michigan Open Carry. Representative Beeler moved to refer HB 4078 to the Committee on Judiciary. The motion prevailed 9-0-0: FAVORABLE ROLL CALL Yeas: Reps. LaFave, Beeler, Eisen, Bezotte, Martin, Jones, Coleman, Rogers, Steenland. Nays: None. Pass: None. The Chair invited Steve Dulan, representing the Michigan Coalition for responsible Gun Owners, to give a presentation. Questions and discussion followed.
