- HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES COMMITTEE ON EDUCATION REP. PAMELA HORNBERGER CHAIR COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES Tuesday, April 27, 2021 9:00 AM Room 352, House Appropriations, State Capitol Building The House Committee on Education was called to order by Chair Hornberger. The Chair requested attendance be called: Present: Reps. Hornberger, Paquette, Green, Markkanen, O'Malley, Beeler, Damoose, Posthumus, Camilleri. Brenda Carter, Koleszar, Shannon, Stone. Absent: None. Excused: None. Representatives Camilleri and Shannon joined the committee remotely. Representative O'Malley moved to adopt the meeting minutes from April 13, 2021. There being no objection, the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. The Chair laid HB 4063 before the committee: HB 4063 (Rep. Reilly) A bill to amend 1978 PA 90, entitled "Youth employment standards act," by amending section 2 (MCL 409.102), as amended by 1996 PA 438. Representative Reilly, testified in support of HB 4063. The following people submitted a card in support of HB 4063, but did not wish to speak: Annie Patnaude, representing Americans for Prosperity. Dave Worthams, representing the Michigan Manufacturers Association. Dan Jarvis, representing the Michigan Family Forum. The Chair laid HB 4074 before the committee: HB 4074 (Rep. Brann) A bill to amend 1976 PA 451, entitled "The revised school code," (MCL 380.1 to 380.1852) by adding section 1166b. Representative Brann, testified in support of HB 4074. Questions and discussion followed. The following people submitted a card in support of HB 4074, but did not wish to speak: Micah Babcock, representing the Small Business Association of Michigan. Alexa Kramer, representing the Grand Rapids Chamber of Commerce. There being no further business before the committee, Rep. Pamela Hornberger adjourned the meeting at 9:13 AM.
