BRONNA KAHLE CHAIR COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES Thursday, May 6, 2021 10:30 AM Room 352, House Appropriations, State Capitol Building The House Committee on Health Policy was called to order by Chair Kahle. The Chair requested attendance be called: Present: Reps. Kahle, Meerman, Whiteford, Alexander, Allor, Hauck, Filler, Mueller, Beeler, Fink, Roth, Tisdel, Witwer, Clemente, Pohutsky, Stone, Whitsett, Morse. Absent: Rep. Neeley. Excused: Rep. Neeley. Representative Meerman moved to adopt the meeting minutes from April 29, 2021. There being no objection, the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. The Chair laid SB 155 and SB 156 before the committee: SB 155 (Sen. Daley) A bill to amend 1978 PA 368, entitled "Public health code," by amending sections 17703, 17708, 17751, and 17757 (MCL 333.17703, 333.17708, 333.17751, and 333.17757), section 17703 as amended by 2016 PA 528, section 17708 as amended by 2020 PA 4, section 17751 as amended by 2020 PA 136, and section 17757 as amended by 2016 PA 383, and by adding section 17744f. SB 156 (Sen. Daley) A bill to amend 1956 PA 218, entitled "The insurance code of 1956," (MCL 500.100 to 500.8302) by adding section 3406v. Senator Daley, Tammy Martin and Jill Verdie, representing the T1 International - Michigan Chapter, testified together in support of SB 155 and SB 156. Questions and discussion followed. The following people submitted a card in support of SB 155 and SB 156, but did not wish to speak: Gary Dougherty, representing the American Diabetes Association. Gabe Basso, representing Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan. Brian Sapita, representing the Michigan Pharmacists Association. The following people submitted a card in support of SB 156, but did not wish to speak: Joseph Sullivan, representing the Michigan Department of Insurance and Financial Services. At 10:58 AM, the Chair laid the committee at ease. At 11:19 AM, the Chair called the committee back to order. The Chair laid HB 4059 before the committee: HB 4059 (Rep. Wendzel) A bill to amend 1939 PA 280, entitled "The social welfare act," (MCL 400.1 to 400.119b) by adding section 109n. The following people submitted a card in support of HB 4059, but did not wish to speak: Sherri Boyd, representing the Arc Michigan. Representative Whiteford moved to report out HB 4059 with recommendation. The motion prevailed 18-0-0: FAVORABLE ROLL CALL Yeas: Reps. Kahle, Meerman, Whiteford, Alexander, Allor, Hauck, Filler, Mueller, Beeler, Fink, Roth, Tisdel, Witwer, Clemente, Pohutsky, Stone, Whitsett, Morse. Nays: None. Pass: None. Representative Witwer moved to excuse Representative Neeley from the meeting. There being no objection the motion prevailed by unanimous consent.
