GRAHAM FILLER CHAIR COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES Tuesday, May 18, 2021 9:00 AM Room 519, House Office Building The House Committee on Judiciary was called to order by Chair Filler. The Chair requested attendance be called: Present: Reps. Filler, Mueller, Steven Johnson, Kahle, Rendon, Berman, Wozniak, Clements, LaGrand, Yancey, Bolden, Hope, Breen. Absent: None. Excused: None. Representative Berman joined the committee remotely. Representative Mueller moved to adopt the meeting minutes from May 11, 2021. There being no objection, the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. The Chair laid HB 4240 and HB 4241 before the committee: HB 4240 (Rep. Yaroch) A bill to amend 1961 PA 236, entitled "Revised judicature act of 1961," by amending section 4708 (MCL 600.4708), as amended by 2014 PA 333. HB 4241 (Rep. Wozniak) A bill to amend 1949 PA 300, entitled "Michigan vehicle code," by amending section 625n (MCL 257.625n), as amended by 2010 PA 155. Representative Wozniak and Representative Yaroch, testified together in support of HB 4240 and HB 4241. Questions and discussion followed. The following people submitted a card with a neutral position on HB 4240 and HB 4241, but did not wish to speak: Sgt. Nicole McGhee, representing the Michigan State Police. Bezotte) A bill to amend 1931 PA 328, entitled "The Michigan penal code," by amending section 316 (MCL 750.316), as amended by 2014 PA 158. Representative Bezotte; Dan Pfannes, from the Wayne County Sheriff's Office, representing the Michigan Sheriffs' Association; and Sheriff Mike Murphy, from Livingston County, representing the Michigan Sheriffs' Association, testified in support of HB 4719. Questions and discussion followed. Kyle Kaminski, representing the Michigan Department of Corrections, testified in opposition to HB 4719. Questions and discussion followed.
