JACK O'MALLEY CHAIR COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES Tuesday, May 25, 2021 10:30 AM Room 519, House Office Building The House Committee on Transportation was called to order by Chair O'Malley. The Chair requested attendance be called: Present: Reps. O'Malley, Eisen, Howell, Griffin, LaFave, Berman, Carra, Roth, Sneller, Clemente, Shannon, Liberati, Puri. Absent: None. Excused: None. Representative Carra moved to adopt the meeting minutes from May 18, 2021. There being no objection, the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. The Chair laid HB 4604 before the committee: HB 4604 (Rep. Ellison) A bill to amend 2001 PA 142, entitled "Michigan memorial highway act," by amending section 44 (MCL 250.1044). Representative Ellison, and Lindsay Brozich, wife of Captain Jeffrey Brozich, testified in support of HB 4604. The following people submitted a card with a neutral position on HB 4604, but did not wish to speak: Troy Hagon, representing the Michigan Department of Transportation. Representative Clemente moved to report out HB 4604 with recommendation. The motion prevailed 13-0-0: FAVORABLE ROLL CALL Yeas: Reps. O'Malley, Eisen, Howell, Griffin, LaFave, Berman, Carra, Roth, Sneller, Clemente, Shannon, Liberati, Puri. Nays: None. Pass: None. The Chair laid HB 4700 before the committee: HB 4700 (Rep. Beson) A bill to amend 2001 PA 142, entitled "Michigan memorial highway act," (MCL 250.1001 to 250.2081) by adding section 1090. Representative Beson, joined by Representative Wakeman, and Ann and Jim Gould, all testified in support of HB 4700. Questions and discussion followed. The following people submitted a card with a neutral position on HB 4700, but did not wish to speak: Troy Hagon, representing the Michigan Department of Transportation. Representative LaFave moved to report out HB 4700 with recommendation. The motion prevailed 13-0-0: FAVORABLE ROLL CALL Yeas: Reps. Representative Markkanen, testified in support of HB 4787. Matt Levin, representing the Michigan Department of State, testified in support of HB 4787. Questions and discussion followed. The following people submitted a card in support of HB 4787, but did not wish to speak: Fred Schaible, representing the Michigan Department of Veterans and Military Affairs.
