CALLEY CHAIR COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES Wednesday, May 26, 2021 12:00 PM Room 519, House Office Building The House Committee on Local Government and Municipal Finance was called to order by Chair Calley. The Chair requested attendance be called: Present: Reps. Calley, Bezotte, Howell, Alexander, Bellino, Marino, Berman, Paquette, Ellison, Sowerby, Garza, Kuppa, Cavanagh. Absent: None. Excused: None. Representative Marino joined the committee remotely. Representative Paquette moved to adopt the meeting minutes from May 19, 2021. There being no objection, the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. The Chair laid HB 4378 and HB 4379 before the committee: HB 4378 (Rep. Garza) A bill to amend 1893 PA 206, entitled "The general property tax act," by amending sections 27 and 34d (MCL 211.27 and 211.34d), section 27 as amended by 2019 PA 116 and section 34d as amended by 2019 PA 117. HB 4379 (Rep. Garza) A bill to amend 1995 PA 24, entitled "Michigan economic growth authority act," by amending section 3 (MCL 207.803), as amended by 2010 PA 272. Substitute (H-1) to HB 4378 was adopted at the May 19, 2021 meeting. Representative Ellison moved to report out HB 4378 with recommendation, as substitute (H- 1). The motion prevailed 12-0-0: FAVORABLE ROLL CALL Yeas: Reps. Calley, Bezotte, Howell, Alexander, Bellino, Berman, Paquette, Ellison, Sowerby, Garza, Kuppa, Cavanagh. Nays: None. Pass: None. Representative Garza moved to report out HB 4379 with recommendation. The motion prevailed 12-0-0: FAVORABLE ROLL CALL Yeas: Reps. Calley, Bezotte, Howell, Alexander, Bellino, Berman, Paquette, Ellison, Sowerby, Garza, Kuppa, Cavanagh. Nays: None. Pass: None. The Chair laid before the Committee a presentation from the Housing Michigan Executive Committee: Dawn Crandall, Home Builders Association of Michigan; Joshua Lunger, Grand Rapids Chamber; Kent Wood, Borealis Strategic; Jennifer Rigterink, Michigan Municipal League; and Yarrow Brown, Housing North. Questions and discussions followed. There being no further business before the committee, Chair Calley adjourned the meeting at 12:57 PM.
