HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES COMMITTEE ON ELECTIONS AND ETHICS REP. ANN BOLLIN CHAIR COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES Thursday, June 3, 2021 8:15 AM Room 326, House Office Building The House Committee on Elections and Ethics was called to order by the Chair Bollin. The Chair requested attendance be called: Present: Reps. Bollin, Calley, Steven Johnson, Filler, Koleszar, Whitsett. Absent: None. Excused: None. Representative Wendzel joined the committee remotely. Representative Koleszar moved to adopt the meeting minutes from May 25, 2021. There being no objection, the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. The Chair laid HB 4897 before the committee: HB 4897 (Rep. Calley) A bill to amend 1954 PA 116, entitled "Michigan election law," by amending sections 730, 731, and 733 (MCL 168.730, 168.731, and 168.733), sections 730 and 731 as amended by 1995 PA 261 and section 733 as amended by 1996 PA 583. Representative Calley, testified in support of HB 4897. Questions and discussion followed. Patrice Johnson, representing the Pure Integrity for Michigan Elections, testified in support of HB 4897. The following people submitted a card in opposition to HB 4897, but did not wish to speak: Bill Zaagman, representing the Michigan Association of Municipal Clerks. Merissa Kovach, representing the ACLU of Michigan. Shira Roza, representing the Promote the Vote. Cheryl Rottmann, representing the Oakland County Clerks Association. There being no further business before the committee, Rep. Ann Bollin adjourned the meeting at 8:42 AM.
