STEVE MARINO CHAIR COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES Tuesday, June 8, 2021 9:00 AM Room 327, House Office Building The House Committee on Commerce and Tourism was called to order by Chair Marino. The Chair requested attendance be called: Present: Reps. Marino, Roth, Farrington, Wakeman, Wendzel, Martin, Cambensy, Cherry, Manoogian, Whitsett, Liberati. Absent: None. Excused: None. Representative Farrington moved to adopt the meeting minutes from May 25, 2021. There being no objection, the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. The Chair laid HB 4725 before the committee: HB 4725 (Rep. Bezotte) A bill to amend 1969 PA 312, entitled "An act to provide for compulsory arbitration of labor disputes in municipal police and fire departments; to define such public departments; to provide for the selection of members of arbitration panels; to prescribe the procedures and authority thereof; and to provide for the enforcement and review of awards thereof," by amending section 2 (MCL 423.232), as amended by 2011 PA 116. Representative Wakeman moved to report out HB 4725 with recommendation. The motion prevailed 8-0-0: FAVORABLE ROLL CALL Yeas: Reps. Marino, Farrington, Wakeman, Martin, Cherry, Manoogian, Whitsett, Liberati. Nays: None. Pass: None. Chair Marino moved to reconsider the previous motion. The motion prevailed 9-0-0: FAVORABLE ROLL CALL Yeas: Reps. Marino, Farrington, Wakeman, Wendzel, Martin, Cherry, Manoogian, Whitsett, Liberati. Nays: None. Pass: None. The Chair laid SB 459 before the committee: SB 459 (Sen. Moss) A bill to amend 1992 PA 147, entitled "Neighborhood enterprise zone act," by amending section 4 (MCL 207.774), as amended by 2014 PA 17. Alex Mansour, representing Brush Park Development, testified in support of SB 459. The chair returned to HB 4725. Representative Wakeman moved to report out HB 4725 with recommendation. The motion prevailed 11-0-0: FAVORABLE ROLL CALL Yeas: Reps. Marino, Roth, Farrington, Wakeman, Wendzel, Martin, Cambensy, Cherry, Manoogian, Whitsett, Liberati. Nays: None. Pass: None. Brian Kelly, Michael Anderson, and Peter Klein, representing the Michigan Film Industry Association, gave an overview presentation to the committee. Questions and discussion followed. There being no further business before the committee, Representative Cambensy moved to adjourn the Committee. There being no objection, the motion prevailed by unanimous consent.
