- HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES COMMITTEE ON EDUCATION AND WORKFORCE REP. NANCY DEBOER CHAIR COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES The House Committee on Education and Workforce was called to order by Chair DeBoer. The Chair requested attendance to be called: Present: Reps. DeBoer, Linting, Paquette, Fox, Kunse, St. Germaine, Pavlov, Wilson, Koleszar, Weiss, and Byrnes. Absent: None. Excused: None. Representative Linting moved to adopt the meeting minutes from May 14, 2025. There being no objection, the motion prevailed with unanimous consent. The Chair laid HB 4367 before the committee: Representative Woolford accompanied by Shane Preston, Great Lakes Regional Liaison for the U.S. Department of Defense, testified together in support of HB 4367. Questions and discussion followed. The Chair laid HB 4369 before the committee: Representative Paquette and Liana Werner-Grey testified in support of HB 4369. Grace Price, an investigative journalist, testified in support of HB 4369. Penelope Popken, co-founder of Step It Up, testified in support of HB 4369. Wednesday, May 21, 2025 10:30 AM Room 327, House Office Building HB 4367 (Rep. Woolford) A bill to amend 1976 PA 451, entitled "The revised school code," (MCL 380.1 to 380.1852) by adding section 1138a. HB 4369 (Rep. Paquette) A bill to amend 2000 PA 92, entitled "Food law," (MCL 289.1101 to 289.8111) by adding section 7134. Jackie Vantine testified in support of HB 4369. Danielle Gansky, a mental health advocate, testified in support of HB 4369. Representative Paquette returned to answer questions from the committee.
