HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES COMMITTEE ON COMMERCE AND TOURISM REP. STEVE MARINO CHAIR COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES Tuesday, September 14, 2021 9:00 AM Room 327, House Office Building The House Committee on Commerce and Tourism was called to order by Chair Marino. The Chair requested attendance be called: Present: Reps. Marino, Roth, Farrington, Wakeman, Martin, Cambensy, Liberati. Absent: Reps. Wendzel, Cherry, Manoogian, Whitsett. Excused: Reps. Wendzel, Cherry, Manoogian, Whitsett. Representative Wakeman moved to adopt the meeting minutes from June 15, 2021. There being no objection, the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. The Chair laid HR 142 before the committee: HR 142 (Rep. O'Malley) A resolution to call for international maritime containers to be treated equally in Michigan compared to other states. Representative O'Malley, testified in support of HR 142. The Chair laid HB 4994 before the committee: HB 4994 (Rep. Witwer) A bill to allow for the charitable donation of unclaimed shoes held by persons engaged in the business of shoe repair. Representative Witwer, testified in support of HB 4994. The Chair laid before the committee the Presentation on Motor Bella 2021 at M1 Concourse by the Detroit Auto Dealers Association. The following people testified in regard to Motor Bella 2021 at M1 Concourse by the Detroit Auto Dealers Association: Doug North, Thad Szott, Todd Szott, and Rod Alberts, representing the Detroit Auto Dealers Association and Motor Bella. The Chair returned to HR 142: Representative Roth moved to report out HR 142 with recommendation. The motion prevailed 7-0-0: FAVORABLE ROLL CALL Yeas: Reps. Marino, Roth, Farrington, Wakeman, Martin, Cambensy, Liberati. Nays: None. Pass: None. The Chair laid before the committee the Discussion on the Michigan Mobility Futures Initiative with Todd Cook, representing the Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity and Trevor Pawl, representing the Michigan Office of Future Mobility and Electrification. Representative Farrington moved to excuse Representatives Wendzel, Cherry, Manoogian and Whitsett from the meeting. There being no objection the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. There being no further business before the committee, Representative Liberati moved to adjourn the Committee. There being no objection, the motion prevailed by unanimous consent.
