- HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES COMMITTEE ON ELECTIONS AND ETHICS REP. ANN BOLLIN CHAIR COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES Tuesday, September 14, 2021 12:00 PM Room 326, House Office Building The House Committee on Elections and Ethics was called to order by Chair Bollin. The Chair requested attendance be called: Present: Reps. Bollin, Wendzel, Calley, Steven Johnson, Filler, Koleszar. Absent: Rep. Whitsett. Excused: Rep. Whitsett. Representative Johnson moved to adopt the minutes from the June 23, 2021 meeting. There being no objection, the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. The Chair laid HB 4876 and HB 4897 before the committee: HB 4876 (Rep. Alexander) A bill to amend 1954 PA 116, entitled "Michigan election law," by amending section 677 (MCL 168.677), as amended by 2018 PA 120. HB 4897 (Rep. Calley) A bill to amend 1954 PA 116, entitled "Michigan election law," by amending sections 730, 731, and 733 (MCL 168.730, 168.731, and 168.733), sections 730 and 731 as amended by 1995 PA 261 and section 733 as amended by 1996 PA 583. Representative Calley moved to adopt substitute (H-1) to HB 4876. The motion prevailed 6- 0-0: FAVORABLE ROLL CALL Yeas: Reps. Bollin, Wendzel, Calley, Steven Johnson, Filler, Koleszar. Nays: None. Pass: None. Patrice Johnson, representing Pure Integrity for Michigan Elections, testified in support of HB 4876 and HB 4897. Questions and discussion followed. Adam Reames, representing the Michigan Department of State, testified in opposition to HB 4876 and HB 4897. Questions and discussion followed. Representative Wendzel moved to excuse Representative Whitsett from the meeting. There being no objection the motion prevailed by unanimous consent.
