HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES COMMITTEE ON ELECTIONS AND ETHICS REP. ANN BOLLIN CHAIR COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES Tuesday, October 5, 2021 12:00 PM Room 326, House Office Building The House Committee on Elections and Ethics was called to order by Chair Bollin. The Chair requested attendance be called: Present: Reps. Bollin, Wendzel, Calley, Steven Johnson, Filler, Koleszar, Whitsett. Absent: None. Excused: None. Representative Whitsett moved to adopt the minutes from the September 28th, 2021 meeting. There being no objection, the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. The Chair laid HB 5268 before the committee: HB 5268 (Rep. Calley) A bill to amend 1954 PA 116, entitled "Michigan election law," by amending section 759 (MCL 168.759), as amended by 2020 PA 302. Representative Calley moved to adopt substitute (H-3) to HB 5268. The motion prevailed 7- 0-0: FAVORABLE ROLL CALL Yeas: Reps. Bollin, Wendzel, Calley, Steven Johnson, Filler, Koleszar, Whitsett. Nays: None. Pass: None. Anthony Essmaker, the Deputy Clerk of Charter Township of Canton, testified in opposition to HB 5268 (H-3). Questions and discussion followed. Dorian Tyus, representing the Michigan Democratic Party, testified in opposition to HB 5268 (H-3). Questions and discussion followed.
