BRONNA KAHLE CHAIR COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES Thursday, October 7, 2021 11:00 AM Room 519, House Office Building The House Committee on Health Policy was called to order by Chair Kahle. The Chair requested attendance be called: Present: Reps. Kahle, Meerman, Whiteford, Alexander, Allor, Hauck, Filler, Mueller, Beeler, Fink, Roth, Tisdel, Witwer, Clemente, Pohutsky, Stone, Morse. Absent: Reps. Whitsett, Neeley. Excused: Reps. Whitsett, Neeley. Representative Allor moved to adopt the meeting minutes from September 30, 2021. There being no objection, the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. The Chair laid HB 5163 before the committee: HB 5163 (Rep. Witwer) A bill to amend 1978 PA 368, entitled "Public health code," (MCL 333.1101 to 333.25211) by adding section 21528. Bob James, representing the US WorldMeds, testified in support of HB 5163. Representative Filler moved to report out HB 5163 with recommendation. The motion prevailed 15-1-1: FAVORABLE ROLL CALL Yeas: Reps. Kahle, Whiteford, Alexander, Hauck, Filler, Mueller, Beeler, Fink, Roth, Tisdel, Witwer, Clemente, Pohutsky, Stone, Morse. Nays: Rep. Meerman. Pass: Rep. Allor. MacDonald) A bill to amend 1978 PA 368, entitled "Public health code," by amending sections 2701 and 2711 (MCL 333.2701 and 333.2711), section 2701 as amended by 2016 PA 499 and section 2711 as amended by 2014 PA 172. Patrick Tiedt, from Senator VanderWall's office, and Eric Stocker, from Senator MacDonald's office, testified in support of SB 246 and SB 435. Questions and discussion followed.
