PAULINE WENDZEL CHAIR COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES Tuesday, October 19, 2021 9:00 AM Room 327, House Office Building The House Committee on Commerce and Tourism was called to order by Chair Wendzel. The Clerk read the following letter making changes to the committee: September 28, 2021 Dear Clerk Randall, This letter is to notify you that I am making the following committee appointments: Representative Julie Alexander to the committee on Commerce and Tourism. Sincerely, Jason Wentworth, Speaker Michigan House of Representatives The Chair requested attendance be called: Present: Reps. Wendzel, Roth, Alexander, Farrington, Wakeman, Martin, Cambensy, Cherry, Manoogian, Whitsett, Liberati. Absent: None. Excused: None. Representative Cambensy moved to adopt the meeting minutes from September 14, 2021. There being no objection, the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. Representative Roth moved to adopt the meeting minutes from September 15, 2021. There being no objection, the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. The Chair laid HB 5305 and HB 5306 before the committee: HB 5305 (Rep. Bellino) A bill to amend 1933 PA 167, entitled "General sales tax act," by amending section 4ee (MCL 205.54ee), as added by 2015 PA 251. HB 5306 (Rep. Hertel) A bill to amend 1937 PA 94, entitled "Use tax act," by amending section 4cc (MCL 205.94cc), as added by 2015 PA 252. Representative Bellino and Representative Hertel, testified in support of HB 5305 and HB 5306. Questions and discussion followed. Steve DelBianco, the President of NetChoice, and Barbara Comstock, former Congresswoman and Virginia Legislator, both testified in support of HB 5305 and HB 5306. Questions and discussion followed. The following people submitted a card in support of HB 5305 and HB 5306, but did not wish to speak: Kia Floyd, representing Facebook. Noah Smith, representing the Michigan Regional Council of Carpenters. Noah Smith, representing Google. Katie Doyen, representing the Grand Rapids Chamber of Commerce. The Chair laid HB 4077 before the committee: HB 4077 (Rep. LaFave) A bill to amend 1994 PA 451, entitled "Natural resources and environmental protection act," by amending section 21106 (MCL 324.21106). Representative LaFave, testified in support of HB 4077. Questions and discussion followed. The following people submitted a card in opposition to HB 4077, but did not wish to speak: Pete Laugley, representing the Michigan Petroleum Association. Derek Sova, representing the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs. There being no further business before the committee, Rep. Pauline Wendzel adjourned the meeting at 10:00 AM.
