- HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES COMMITTEE ON AGRICULTURE REP. JULIE ALEXANDER CHAIR COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES Tuesday, November 30, 2021 8:00 AM Room 352, House Appropriations, State Capitol Building The House Agriculture committee is meeting jointly with the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Agriculture and Rural Development. The House Appropriations Subcommittee on Agriculture and Rural Development and Natural Resources was called to order by Chair Allor. The House Committee on Agriculture was called to order by Chair Alexander. The Chair requested attendance be called: Present: Reps. Alexander, Posthumus, Bellino, Rendon, Filler, Carra, Cambensy, Hope, Witwer, Puri. Absent: Rep. Garza. Excused: Rep. Garza. Representatives Hope, Witwer, and Puri attended the meeting remotely. Chair Alexander laid the presentation on the Agricultural Nutrient Best Management Voluntary Practices Program before the committee. Director Gary McDowel and Director of Finance and Budget Sylvia Renteria, both representing the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, provided a presentation on the Agricultural Nutrient Best Management Voluntary Practices Program covered the following topics: What is Phosphorous, Phosphorous in Western Lake Erie Basin, New Pilot Program, Cost Categories, and Going Forward. Questions and discussion followed. Representative Alexander moved to excuse Representative Garza from the meeting. There being no objection the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. There being no further business before the committee, Rep. Julie Alexander adjourned the House Committee on Agriculture at 9:11 AM. Rep. Sue Allor adjourned the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Agriculture and Rural Development and Natural Resources at 9:12 AM.
