The Chair requested attendance to be called: Present: Reps. VanderWall, Thompson, Meerman, Tisdel, Bierlein, DeBoer, Prestin, Schmaltz, St. Germaine, Bohnak, Frisbie, Brenda Carter, Witwer, Neeley, Hoskins and Foreman. Absent: Rep. Whitsett. Excused: Rep. Whitsett. Representative Schmaltz moved to adopt the meeting minutes from May 21, 2025. There being no objection, the motion prevailed with unanimous consent. The Chair laid HB 4218 and HB 4219 before the committee: HB 4218 (Rep. Thompson) A bill to amend 1974 PA 258, entitled "Mental health code," by amending sections 100d and 756 (MCL 330.1100d and 330.1756), section 100d as amended by 2022 PA 214 and section 756 as added by 1995 PA 290. HB 4219 (Rep. Thompson) A bill to amend 1974 PA 258, entitled "Mental health code," by amending section 416 (MCL 330.1416), as amended by 2018 PA 595. Ms. Magee, representing herself, testified in support of HB 4218 and HB 4219. Questions and discussions followed. Representative Thompson moved to report out HB 4218 with recommendation. Representative Tisdel offered the following amendment to HB 4527: 1. Amend page 4, line 2, after "than" by striking out "10" and inserting "15". At 9:30 AM, the Chair called the committee back to order. Nick VanderWall, representing Disability Advocates of Kent County, testified in support of HB 4527 and HB 4528. Representative Witwer moved to excuse Representative Whitsett from the meeting. There being no objection the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. There being no further business before the committee, Chair VanderWall adjourned the meeting at 9:41 AM.
